Payatas is the biggest landfill in the Philippines and has been in existence for 35 years. People -children and adults alike- work by scavenging through mountains of trash hoping to make enough to buy food for the day. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. The conditions are beyond deplorable. Instead of going to school, children as young as four years old, find themselves digging through all the mountains of trash to help the family get through the day.
They are all having the hard time!!!!There are days when they don't get anything and there's nothing they can do.They are starve for the whole day and just go to sleep. Even if they are headache cause of heat, they still need to endure it so that they have food to eat. Some people called the children in patayas as ''Garbage People'' and ''Beggars''. The words really hurts them!!! They are just the innocent children who which to survive through collecting garbage, they just used the only way they can survived.Please go to Youtube view the video ,it is really touching and it touched into my heart.The video has interviewed the children in payatas,let themselves tell u how much they need our help.
Thanks to the organizations like the Lighthouse Center for Children Foundation who operates and get much needed help to alleviate the suffering of these children. Christmas of Payatas is a charity appeal, and that they are raising donations for Christmas. The money not only enable children to celebrate Christmas but the money raised will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community. Now, they are many prominent supporters for the good cause, from basketballers,politicians,footballers,celebrities,singers and others and the donation tally is USD72839.30 and the amount is keep increasing.So what we waiting for?Let's support this Christmas of Payatas.Thanks for your kindness.
